Psoriasis support groups in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is celebrating for the first time, the World Psoriasis Day. The WPD in Saudi Arabia is organized by King Saud University through its Psoriasis Research Chair.

Psoriasis research chair is the first chair of its kind in the Middle East and one of its main objectives is to raise awareness about psoriasis in Saudi Arabia and the region, in addition to, research development in the field of psoriasis. Psoriasis research chair is just established this year and one of its initial activities is celebrating the WPD and shares with the world the psoriasis awareness activities. A special program has been made for this occasion with Multiple activities that include:
1.  Media coverage of the WPD through TV channel interviews with the experts in psoriasis to explain the nature of the disease and the new developments, in addition to, correcting myths and misconception about psoriasis.

2.  Assigning complete medical pages in the main newspapers to orient the public about the WPD and the meaning of that. Psoriasis articles with new updates and answers to frequently asked questions constitute a significant part of these pages.

3. Organizing the first meeting on raising psoriasis awareness that put together psoriasis patients and their families with their doctors and others health care providers in one place in a very accessible way. The meeting meant to be social along with dinner and other social activities.

4. Organizing lectures and seminars that will be conducted through psychologist, psychiatrists, dermatologist, rheumatologist, social worker experts and others, directed to psoriasis patients and their families and to the public.


5. Establishing the first psoriasis support groups in Saudi Arabia that will provide continuous support to psoriasis patients in the region and contact channels have been already established.

6. Organizing psoriasis exhibition that will be made available to psoriasis patients and their families and the public. The exhibition will be focusing on expressing the clinical pictures and patterns of the disease, in addition to, treatment types and the new development and advances.

7. Distributing information materials and fact sheets about all aspects of psoriasis to increase awareness about this chronic disease.
